Well, I thought I would post an update for us! It has been an extremely busy week for me. My sexual assault nurse examine course will end in two weeks and I am finishing my clinical hours for the course. Last Friday I went to the crime lab. This is where they analyze crime scene material- for evidence. It was very interesting. It was like CSI without the high heals and dark rooms- SO unreal! Saturday, the class went down to the City County Building to see a courtroom and listen to the prosecuting attorney speak. We will most likely be testifying sometime in our forensic nurse examiner career. Tuesday, I tried to go back to the marion county coroner's office, BUT I called first this time. They did have decomposition for the day so I didn't go in. I know I wouldn't be able to handle the smell. So, I will try it again in two weeks! Tonight I get to attend a ride along with the marion county sex crimes detective from 7-11pm. Hopefully, we will get some juicy situation! No pun intended! I don't want anyone to get hurt, but if it is going to happen I want to be there- safely, of course. Oh yes, last night I went to a molestation support group at the legacy house. I was able to observe group process and the ladies are inspiring with the growth they have reached. How difficult these experiences must have been. One of the ladies brought up that they need to feel their emotions instead of having someone always try to push them into being happy. They need someone to listen instead of saying "live in today" or "it is going to be ok." This is just an FYI in case you are ever the listener in a situation such as this. I always recommend that you ask the person what they need from you to make sure you are providing them with the correct support...
It would be nice to sleep in one of these days, but I can hopefully do so this weekend.
I had the privilege of spending Tuesday with Angela (Mommy) and Zander. We were celebrating Angela's 31st Birthday. We stayed in (at Angela's) and just played with Zander, talked and ate Cracker Barrel. Great choice Ranger!!
Damien made some GREAT chicken on the grill last night. He soaked it in Italian Dressing and grilled it up! Yummy! And, I forgto it today for lunch!! Well, dinner here I come! He makes some really good meals! And, it is such a blessing to be able to come home at 5-6pm and not have to start dinner. Thank you Mr. Bunny!!
Damien is still working every third day, 24 hours. They have been busy running errands and doing a lot of training lately. He has been pretty tired coming home from work the next morning especially with some runs at night.
He is also busy trying to coral Murphy for Mom. Murph has been a little turd! He doesn' mind Mom AT ALL!! Dad gets on his case though. All, I have to do is yell, "Damien" like I am calling him (even when he is not home). Murphy will stop what he is doing and look around because he knows that Dad will lay the smack down! He is like a real child!!
Damien is getting ready to start assisting in the Audio-Visual Department at church. He will be videotaping services with a big commercial camera. Cool! Hopefully, I don't lose him to the Oprah Show or someone like that! It sounds like it could be pretty interesting! I will be volunteering as a first responder (medical) in case anyone gets hurt/sick at church and I will be directing folks at the children's check-in desk.
We are both looking forward to the Thankgiving get- together at the Lidgards (our friends from church) this Saturday. We are going to be putting boxes together to send across seas. These are shoe boxes of little Christmas gifts (1 per child) for children who would otherwise receive nothing for Christmas- Africa etc. How heartwarming!!
