I am finally done with finals week! My students have stressed me out beyond stress. Two quotes come to my mind when thinking of my last two weeks at school. They are:
"A lack of planning on your part does not consitute an emergency on mine"
and:
"If things are not going quite as you expected then you should first look in the mirror."
and, let's just throw in one more to top it off:
"Attitude is one of the things you can control the most in your life- do it!"
Now, we have all struggled with all of the above at one time or another. BUT, it seems like many of my students were struggling with all of them every day over the last two weeks. In fact, this was the last question on their test that they took 12/17:
I have more control of my_________ than most anything else in the world.
a. Children
b. Heart rate
c. Bowels
d. Attitude
I was SO proud of them- they all got it right! I was suprised that no one picked C. It is amazing that as a teacher/professor you often have to teach about life as well as their major. We had a 25 minute lecture on professionalism, attitude, accountability etc. I thank God though for this opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others. God knows that someone has had to have a little talk with me in the past. Success in nursing is much more than just knowledge of health- much more!!
Anyway, I am stepping down from my soap box. I have to say that my husband has been so supportive over the last couple of weeks- taking care of the house, making dinner etc. Thank you Mr. Bunny. You are loved and appreciated very much!!
I am officially off work for the next two weeks and no students for the next 3 weeks! I love my students, but I am glad to take a 3 week break!! Damien and I look forward to the next two weeks with friends and family. I also look forward to getting things done around the house without pressure to finish grading.
We hope that you have an extremely blessed holiday!! May you love each other dearly...
